Case Study
Amisys Platinum Migration
Project Overview
CORE Software led the migration of Amisys 3000, a mission-critical payer solution, from its legacy PowerHouse/HP3000/IMAGE environment to a modern Java and Oracle-based architecture. This project leveraged CORE’s automated migration engine, the CCMS Toolset, along with proven methodologies to deliver a seamless transition that preserved business continuity while enabling long-term scalability and growth.

The Challenge
Amisys was experiencing increasing challenges with its legacy PowerHouse applications. The technology had become outdated and inflexible, making it difficult to extend or integrate with newer systems. Rising support costs and the shrinking availability of skilled PowerHouse programmers further strained operations. In addition, the platform no longer aligned with the company’s strategic direction, leaving it unable to support new initiatives effectively. These constraints created significant operational risks, limited growth potential, and underscored the unsustainability of continued reliance on the aging system.
Our Approach
To address these challenges, CORE Software applied its patented migration methodology and CCMS Toolset, ensuring the migration was executed with both precision and efficiency. The project was designed to preserve one hundred percent of Amisys’ existing business rules while delivering a modernized platform. CORE began with design recovery, capturing all business rules and editing logic from the legacy environment. The CCMS Repository enabled full impact analysis and the controlled propagation of changes, while forward engineering automated the generation of structured Java code and Oracle migration scripts. The project followed a structured lifecycle of initiation, planning, training, testing, packaging, delivery, and closeout, ensuring quality assurance at every stage and guaranteeing that the migrated system matched the functionality of the original.
Results
The migration delivered a fully modernized Java and Oracle environment that not only replicated all legacy functionality but also provided a foundation for forward-looking improvements. The new system offered increased flexibility, greater functionality, and improved IT productivity. Operational risks were reduced by safeguarding critical business rules and IT investments, while automation lowered support costs and enhanced system accessibility. In addition, the modernization created opportunities for revenue growth by empowering end-users and supporting expansion into new markets.
Why It Matters
Modernizing Amisys’ mission-critical system was essential to reducing dependency on outdated technology and the shrinking pool of developers capable of maintaining it. By leveraging automation and a proven methodology, CORE Software enabled Amisys to future-proof its operations, improve customer service delivery, and strengthen competitiveness. Importantly, this transformation was achieved without disruption to ongoing business processes, ensuring continuity while delivering long-term value.
